better late then never?

So after watching all the games this weekend i guess i'll start with college basketball. Saturday was the Butler vs. Duke rematch of last years title game, which wasn't the game it was last year, which i knew would be the case before the fact, like i have been saying Duke it s a monster and lets face it Butler isn't the same as last year without Hayword gone and the rest of the team just not playing up to there potential, i mean the first half was better then the 2nd obviously but, i think Duke is a little to much to handle for anyone this year. (knock on wood) Plus Duke has the best point guard in college basketball right now, in Kyrie Irving who went for 21 points 2 rebounds 2 dimes and 1 steal (3-6 from beyond the arc, and 6-6 at the free throw line) also the Blue Devils got a huge help from Nolan Smith who went for 24 points 2 rebounds 1 dime and 1steal (only 1-6 from beyond the arc but went 13-14 from the line). I was more interested in the second game on ESPN's schedule that night, the Illinois vs. Gonzaga, i picked Illinois to win, i think it was obvious that i think they are a great team by my last post on them and i pretty much saw the same thing Saturday night except that it looked like much more of a team effort, i know when i ranted about how great they looked i mentioned 3 players which is a pretty good amount but i mean the whole team was in double digits and D.J. Richardson had a good game with 15 points 5 rebounds 2 dimes and 1steal (2 of 5 beyond the arc and 1-2 from the line) it would have appeared this was gunna be a good game but like the Duke game i knew this one wouldn't be to great i saw the Zag's play earlier this season and i just wasn't as impressed. (also i picked them to win a game earlier this season against an unranked opponent and they lost ending my streak on the ESPN's streak for the cash game.)

There were some college football game but since they outcomes were not to my liking except the Oregon game, I am opting to not write about them, except to say i am semi excited about the upcoming bowl games (as excited as a HUGE playoff lobbyist for a playoff can be) i am excited to hopefully see Cam Newton FINALLY fall, and i am excited to watch TCU vs. Wisconsin as well as a few others but i will do a whole separate post on that being that there is so many games and actually a lot of interesting match ups.

So that leaves us with the NFL and yesterdays games and tonight's games. I once again for the 3rd time in a row i pick 2 dogs to win like always it looks great for me through 3 quarters and then just like that my dogs throw it away and leave me wondering what the hell just happened i mean seriously the Lions controlled the lead the whole game just like i posted "they'll keep it close till the 4th quarter and Jay Cutler lose them the game" well once again i am left wishing that they only play 3 quarters instead of 4! Granted when i was watching the TV update the scores seeing the bears had tied it up but that the Lions had a 1st and goal at the Bears 9 yard line i figured great we will go up 7 here and get the momentum our way and staying that way for the rest of the game, and we would just be able to edge them out, BUT of course they are the Lions so it doesn't happen like that they cant even gain more then 2 yards and settle for a field goal. Not to mention the bogus roughing the passer call, which made an impact on the game it did not necessarily change the out come of the game but it made an impact, but i guess from my previous 3 weeks of picking them and them letting me down i guess i should have known. Which brings me to my next underdog pick which was the Buc's over the Falcons which also ALMOST happened, this one i felt a little more comfortable with my pick especially when the Buc's had the lead in the 4th because they are a much better team then the Lions...buuutt....since I picked them as my dog of the week of course they give me those 3 great quarters then BAM rip my heart out in the 4th! I should have known just like the Lions i should have known that my other pick would end up just the same. Now enough about my underdogs as far as the rest of my picks go, i put up some picks on facebook which i wemt 6-3 for and i hope to go 7-3 when the Pats hopefully beat the Jets. As far as my other picks which i made on ESPN's pigskin pick 'em game i went 11-4 not including the game tonight which will hopefully make me 12-4 for the week which is ok i guess 66% not a pass by any means but still pretty good, i really should have done better i should have known the Colts are playing their worst ball of ever, but the game i did not see coming was the Raiders beating the Bolts and not just beating them but doing it in December which has literally never happened in the Rivers era in San Diego and they really needed to win out with there horrible start to the season for them to think playoffs and now i think they as well as the Colts (yea that is right i said the Colts) might not make it this year.  I know that the Steelers vs. Ravens was a huge game a great one at that but i didn't catch it because i was watching the season finale of Boardwalk Empire because my DVR was recording 2 things at once so i was not able to switch the channel but i am sure it will be on the NFL networks replay this weeks so i'll get to catch the actual game instead of just watching the gamecast animation on ESPN.com. But i think the biggest game of the week is the game tonight. I think that tonight's game will be a much better game then the first time they met both these teams have changed since then and while people may think the Jets have much more talent on their roster, i think that this is like they have been saying "Classic" Pat's with Brady running the offense and trying to keep them on the field as long as possible and the hoodie (as Jim Rome calls him) coaching up the defense, i think they are much better on the defensive side of the ball now that it is late in the season and Bill has had some time to work with them. Also playing a great coach like Bill 2 times a year is never a good thing for the other team. That is all i got for now, i am gunna write a little more on the NBA later and my Bowl blog, as well as a few bad beats i recently took at the poker table i mean bad beats!
