Back on Track

As far as picks go for the weekend, in football i was a perfect 2-0, and i know i didnt pick any college hoops games but if you recall after i saw Texas man handle Texas A&M, and saw how athletic there bigs were i was really excited to see them matched up against some of the better teams Kansas was the one i really mention i thought that the bigs of Texas would be one of the Hardest test the Morris twins have faced all year, and turns out i was right. I never said i thought that Texas would beat the Jayhawks although i knew they had a great chance, but i just said i cant wait to see Texas play some of the better teams such as Pitt, Kansas, and Florida State teams that were strong inside and who had not really been tested inside all year. Minus maybe Pitt who has played a number of tough games, but tonight proved to be the toughest, as they fell to Notre Dame in the first half Notre Dame slowed the pace of the game to suit them and to limit the amount of times Pitt touched the ball and Pitt seemed  to be ok with that style of play and played well in the first half, Gibbs didnt have a great night nor did Wanamaker which finally caught up to Pitt in the second half one Notre Dame started to get hot shooting the ball, not so much Notre Dame as it was Hansbrough who kept gettin guarded by McGhee some how and both times made him look foolish first pulling up for a J right in his face and the second time driving right past him like he was a bum on the street corner asking for a ride. This was a huge win for the Fighting Irish who hadnt played well on the road all year, and not only that were coming off a couple questionable performances, i was starting to think they might taper off a little but they were doing no such thing defeating there 4th ranked team this year, 3 of which were in the top 10 all of them were in the top 20 and the most recent was of course the biggest win taking down #2 ranked Pitt.

Now on to the NFL and this weekends games, I will start with the NFC championship game, as you all know in my rewrite i broke each team down into 5 different categories and who ever had the advantage in the category was given a point, and it ended up being Packers 3 Bears 2 the Pack getting points for defense, wideouts, and QB's and the Bears getting points for special teams and running backs and as the game wore on it seemed that i hit the nail on the head with who had the edge where, the only spot i was wrong if you ask me was obviously speical teams...not saying that the Packers special teams havent been suspect all year but their punter really was the MVP keeping the ball away from Hester like that. As far as giving the Packers  defense the point over the Bears defense i think the game speaks for itself as to how good of a call that was on my part, and the wide outs were more productive on the Greenbay side obviously not as productive as you would have thought do to A-Rog being human and all, but the Packers wide outs accounted for 244 yards on 17 receptions where the Bears wide outs accounted for 233 on 19 receptions. I gave the slight edge to the Bears in the run game only because how dangerous Forte is when he gets outside and how dangerous he is out of the back field as a receiver which was the reason i gave him the edge and that is where he out preformed Starks, the both had 70 yards on the ground (Starks had 74 on 22 carries) Forte had 70 with 17 carries but he also had 10 receptions good for 90 yards. Last but not least i gave the Packers a huge edge in the quarterback department and rightfully so, no Aaron Rodgers didnt have a amazing game, but without the opening drive who knows how that game turns out, right off the bat he set the tone, i know Cutler didnt play the whole game, which if you ask me was the best thing that happened to the Bears all game. I am in no place to question anyones toughness thats a NFL player but to me the fact that Cutler could put any weight at all on that knee and he wasnt out there is just something i cant comprehend, i could see if he was a wide out or a running back someone who had to strain there knee and someone who is for sure getting hit everytime they touch the ball, but Cutler is a quarterback! I mean really in the biggest game of your career your gunna sit back and watch as your team fails. I normally would be calling someone out like this but if it was that bad why was he on the sidelines still walking around like nothing was bothering him, he wasnt even limping when he was walking around on the sidelines, another thing i didnt really notice till they pointed it out on ESPN was how he wasnt cheering on his team and how he was sitting right next to 3rd stringer Hanie while Hanie was looking at photos of the last drive trying to figure things out and there he was just sitting there staring off into space not even offering and tips or advice, maybe Cutler was mad cause Hanie was showing him up and putting his starting spot in Jeopardy...haha obviously that last part was a joke but come on Jay wouldnt you wanna help your team anyway you can in this game i mean if you win you go the the Superbowl did he forget that or something? But any who i dont know how bad he was hurt or what not but if you ask me it didnt look that bad and even if it was the fact that he looked like he had somewhere else to be all game is what really bother people i think more than the fact that he wasnt playing. Sorry i got a little bit off topic but not really, anyways i know Rodgers didnt look great in the second half but he still out played Cutler and the rest of the Bears QB's if you ask me. Now as far as the second game goes i will offically (for now) change The Dirty Sanchez back to the Sanchize, and admit that i was wrong, Sanchez played a near perfect ga...wait a second no no no not near perfect we will say good and not game but half he played a pretty good half, that half obviously being the second half, where ok he played great, now if he could only figure out how to play this well all season and the Jets may be the team with the first round bye and home field for the playoffs but we will wait till next season to see if he finally gets it. The first half went the way i expected the whole game to go minus how good the Steelers ran the ball but i knew they would try and run cause thats the kinda team they are, but i figured they'd get at least one defensive TD and a at least one on offense and go into half with maybe a 10 point or 7 point lead i didnt think it'd be 24-3 going into half i thought the Jets would show up better then that, but this is a common place for this team, to no show in the first half and come out in the second half a different team, it works in the regular season for the most part, but this is the AFC championship game, you cant even take a play off let alone a whole half! Thats all i got on that for now, tomorrow i will post about each teams full season and i will break the teams down in a lot more detail then i did for the Packers v. Bears so be ready for that tomorrow.

On to the NBA where the Mav's finally picked up Stojakovic, now obviously he is no Carmelo but still he is a catch and shoot guy who is career 40% fro mbeyond the arc and a good add to the team, they do need another scorer with Butler out like i have said before, now its yet to be seen if Stojakovic can be that scorer how much he has left in him but he obviously gives them a better chance to win or else they wouldnt have picked him up, like i said on facebook its a good move just not a great move, i am not saying it CANT be a great move that is yet to be seen, it for sure makes them better so i wont say that i dont like it (sorry i had to go double negative on you) but i will wait to say its a great move until at least 5 or so games down the road. I hope this is the move they need to get back to where they were before the injuries piled up but i am not getting my hopes up just yet. I'll give you my picks for tomorros games real quick, The Nuggets travel to Washington to play the Wizards and while the Wizards are obviously a different team at home i dont think they will have what it takes to beat a Nuggets team that regularly drops 120, im not saying the Wizards cant win but they will need huge outings from Wall and Blatche and the rest of their starters but i got the Nuggets in this one. The Cav's play in Boston and i am taking the Celtics to win big double digits for sure. The Clippers are on the road against the Mav's and while the Clippers have been hot, the Mav's have the length to frustrate Griffin, and with the new offensive addition i think the Mav's have another big home win here against the Clippers. The Bobcats play the Kings and for once i am not picking against the Bobcats i think they will pull off the road win and i hope to see big games out of Diaw and Augustin, the last game for tomorrow will be the Jazz on the road in L.A. to take on the Lakers and the Jazz are not the same team on the road and i look for the Lakers to continue their winning ways they have won 9 of their last 11 and i look for this to be the 10th.

baseball stuff tomorrow as well as a lot of football and NBA picks
