wild card weekend

Sorry for the change in venue but my original Sports Fix blog is having problems loading so i figured so i dont lose any readers ill post on a new site but same names same stuff just for now im gunna use this site because the other one is down. So anyways lets get to where i left off from my last blog well i cant totally do that since week 17 past and i couldnt post i did how ever go 12-4 in the last week of  the season which gives me a record of 153-95 overall this seaon which isnt that bad if you ask me and not to mention i finished 1st, 3rd, and 3rd in my fantasy football leagues this year which is also a big plus. Anyways ill get to my wild card picks after i recap the season and who i thought was the biggest surprise this year as a player, also as a team, ill also go over the best preformance of the year for every position. (which you’ll understand more when i actually start writing that part.) But first off lets start out by giving my MVP vote, its really hard to make a case for any one other then Tom Brady, yes there are some Qb’s this year that have thrown for more yards or a better completion percentage then him although not by much but no one has as many touchdowns as he does (36) no one has as little interceptions as him (4) he has the highest QB rating  with 111.0 only 2 other QB’s break the triple digit mark by seasons end and they are Aaron Rodgers and Philip Rivers bother with a 101. No other MVP contender has as many wins as he does and all this with out the deep threat, i know that a lot of people want Mike Vick to win the MVP but after the last couple of games he has played i think it really hurt his case for MVP, if he would have played at the same level all season then i think there would be no questions asked about Vick and MVP but the last few weeks have really shown the holes in his game and the last few weeks have just shown how flawless Brady is this year. Really look at who Brady is doing it with on his side of the ball, Danny Woodhead, Gronkowski (spell check*) Welker who isnt as big of a surprise but once Randy left everyone had there doubts but Tom just wasnt having it after that Browns loss him and the Hoodie got serious and you see why everyone has been raving about Brady since he started showing us how he has no ceiling on all those unstoppable teams, which brings the question up…are these Pats just as unstoppable as the old Pats, and the quick answer is no, and i will tell you why, if you ask me it has some to do with their defense who yes has been playing well the past few weeks but they are not post season vets and neither is there offense while some on offense have been  here before they are still not the Pats of old and they CAN be beat, that doesnt mean they will be beat but it can happen. That brings me to my top performances of the year. For the the QB position it obviously would be Mike Vick in his game against the Redskins when he had 333 yards in the air with 4 TD’s and 0 picks on 20-28 passing and he had 80 yards on the ground along with 2 rushing TD’s, that would be my performance of the year at the QB position. Now for the running back position im going all the way back to week one for Arian Fosters performance against the Colts 231 yards on the ground with 3 TD’s, the most dominate performance i can remember from a running back since All day almost rand for 300 his rookie year. honorable mention for this position would be Ray Rice’s game week 15 against the Saints he had 153 yards on the ground with a TD and 80 yards in the air with a TD. To go off on a little tanget as far as those 2 backs are concerned they both came out of no where and they both are great backs, sorry i just love when a sleeper comes outta no where and just destroys espeially the way Arian did this year. ANYWAYS, lets move on now to the best preformance by a wideout this season i will go with Dwayne Bowe at seattle with 170 yards and 3 TD’s in that game, Bowe really had a break out year with 3 games over 150 yards receiving this year. My honorable mention in this one goes the my main man Greg Jennings with his 152 yard 3 TD game vs the Vikings. and those are my 3 best performances as far as games go this year, let me know what you think about that. Now i wanna talk about some of the best games of the 2010 season, as well as some of the best plays and just other things that really stuck out to me this year and then ill get to my picks i know this is alot to handle but ive been away for a whole week and a lot is going on. Now i am gunna talk about the horse shoe and hand granade teams of this year and i will name 2 teams to this catagory and those 2 teams are the Houston Texans and the Detroir Lions, both teams had chances to have great years, and both shot themselves in the foot time and time again, I like the Texans i have always like Schaub he can get the job done thats for sure and i like who he has on that side of the ball when they made there start i believe it was 4-2 they started then they lost to the Colts which wasnt to bad i mean they lost that one cause they got out played, but seriously they way they lost the next 3 games was out of hand…The game where Johnson caught it then kicked it outta his own hands and into the hands of the defense on what was the game winning drive, not to mention the Jags game where ONE guy did his job and swatted the ball away but the other guys just stood there and didnt box there guy out which led to the Mike Thomas most ridiculous TD of the year catch and walk in for a TD, that and the Jets game all 3 of those games should have been W’s they should have been 8-3 by week 12 and on their way to the first playoff birth of the Franchise but no instead they choke away all those games and not to mention the Bronco game later on down the road and the second time they played the Titans they should have came away with another W but what can you do. I really hope they draft on the Defensive side of the ball preferably some corners and safties, if they can do that or maybe sign a few free agents work out a few trades or something but if they improve where they know they need to look out for the Texans next year. Now on to the Lions, who i know had a lot of QB switching and what not this year but still that is no excuse for the way they fold in the forth quarter obviously this year was their best year in 2 years but still they shouldnt settle for 6-10 if the players are happy with that record this year when they had so many chances for other wins then theres something wrong there, 7 of their 10 loses are 8 points or less and all of those loses they had the lead some point in the 4th quarter and just couldnt finish the ball game. They really got a HUGE winner with Suh (which was no sercert he was gunna dominate) but i think he raised the level of play on that whole D-Line which is saying somethin for a rookie. If you ask me he is damn close to rookie of the year IF NOT THEY rookie of the year. But anywho that is enough of that i will get to my wild card weekend picks now…For the first game of the weekend  we have the Saints vs. Seahawks this one is a no brainer for me even though the Saints are yet to win a road playoff game i am going with the defending superbowl champs here, the way they have been playin the past few weeks really impressed me, obviously last week not counting seeing as how they were resting there starters and they could have easily won that game if they kept their starters in, anyways i think the Saints got hot at the right time and i look for them to go deep into the playoffs IF not all the way to the NFC championship game. I am not saying that they are my pick to be in the NFC championship game i am just sayin they have looked really good the past couple weeks if reggie can carry the running back load which i know he can and if Drew calms down on those picks which i know he will and their defense gets going how they were last year i think the Saints are a team to watch out for and i think they beat the seahawks soundly. Saints 34 seahawks 10. Which brings us to our final saturday game which is the Jets vs. the Colts this game is really tricky i know the Jets havent been playing well the past few weeks, but the talent and experience they have on both sides of the ball is very dangerous no matter how they have been playing you better believe they are gunna come to play especially with all the talking their coach is doing that should motivate them, BUT it also will motivate the Colts and one Peyton Manning who has had a decent year which has been overshadowed by injury and more picks then he is used  to but still he got his team where they needed to be i just dont know if they are as strong as the Colts of old, i know that Manning will put on a strong performance but if Sanchize doesnt pull a Sanchize i like the Jets to steal one in Indy, Jets 24 indy 20. Now that brings us to Sundays games the first game is the Ravens vs the Chiefs, while the Chiefs have been a great story and Cassel and Bowe have combind for abunch of huge games and they have a soild running attack also i think the Ravens are just to strong on both sides of the ball for the Chiefs to handle i think Joe Flacco has a great day and i think the Ravens bring to much pressure for Cassel to get comfy i think the Ravens come away with a big win giving them a huge lift going into the second round i look for Ray Rice and Joe Flacco and T-sizzle to all have huge games for the Ravens, also i think their experience will play a big part here nerves might get to the Chiefs, Ravens 28 KC 17. Now for the last game of the Wild Card weekend is my Packers against Mike Vick and the Eagles, I am sure it will  come as no surprise that i am taking the Packers here, i think they have the right defense to keep Vick under control and if their offense plays to their full capablity then they should have no problem sealing the deal in Philly i am not saying it is a stone cold lock that the pack win, i know the way the Eagles have been playing lately they are gunna want to come out and prove they are who everyone thought they were but i think the Packers have fought to hard to get here and after last years performance they have a lot to prove i think Aaron Rodgers has a lot on the line as far as how he is looked at as a post season perfrormer and i just think the Packers are the hotter team right now i am looking for Jennings to have a huge game as well as Clay Mathews and look for Brandon Jacobs to have a break out performance and surprise everyone as a pressure back. Packers 35 eagles 31. Thats my Wild card weekend post i would include NBA and NCAA stuff here but this is long enough ill get back on tomorrow morning for my NBA and other sports posts
