Well tomorrow starts the second round of the playoffs and while i have already made my picks i was spending this week really thinking about the Seahawks vs. Bears game and i figured why change, so with that being said i am officially changing my pick from the Bears to the Seahawks on account of Jay Cutler being Jay Cutler, and the fact that his game will come down to who has the better quarterback, not to mention all the momentum they have coming into this game and they beat them earlier in the year, as long as they get to Cutler the way they did in the first game i think everything will be ok, also i read something by Bill Simmons that really made sense, he said that if Lynch doesnt follow up with at least a decent game and the team doesnt come away with at least one more W then that run was for not and will most likely be forgotten in a few years, but if for instance they make it to the NFC championship game and at least put up a fight then you remember it forever, maybe you remember it forever anyways but honestly think about it for a second really think about it. Now as far as the other games go, the Ravens and Steelers is hands down the best rivalry in the NFL by far, like me and evey once else in the sports world pointed out this week, most of the games are decided by 3 points. Another thing that everyone seems to be saying is how big Ben is money in these situtations and Flacco is bust, i can see why you think that about big ben but why judge Flacco so harshly so quickly especially this year with all the weapons he has on that side of the ball they could be repping the AFC in the superbowl this year and i wouldnt be the least bit surprised, some people are saying they are trying to do to much on offense but look at what all the options let them do to the KC last week i know it was iffy in the first half but they started throwing across the middle and did it well to boot, i think with all the weapons Joe Flacco has he is like Batman and his offense is like his utility belt! To be honest i am surprised their offense is meshing so well in its first year with 2 new big name wide outs, when usually they are more of a power run team like the Steelers, this year they didnt really change that they still are a run first team but if you stack the box on them now they will make you pay everytime, they have so many threats on offense when the season started i was really excited to see the Ravens and what they could do with all that talent on both sides of the ball. I know the Steelers are really talented as well to me they are more talented in positions that people dont really care for like offensive line for the most part, they obviously have big name players on both sides of the ball, but not as many as the Ravens, with so many people picking big ben i am sticking by my original pick here taking the Ravens. So much has been made of the war of words that has been going on between the Pats and the Jets it kinda got old, obviously the Jets are gunna say something its been like that all year every week i swear there is something on sportscenter, PTI, Around the Horn, First Take, or NFL either from Rex Ryan or a Jets player, and all i hear this week is how Brady is a bad sport for being pumped that he is torching his rival, sorry you guys didnt even show up for that game and YOU kept getting burnt and the leagues MVP was making sure he capitalized on it, i can understand that this is what the Jets do and it may fire them up but it has to fire up the other team just as much if not more then it does for them, i wouldnt give Brady and the Hoodie any other reason to wanna make you look like a fool then they already have. I thought this would be a close game and i still am leaning that way only cause the Jets defense is really good, and i wont lie they do know how to get it done, but i just think that they pushed Brady a little to far and he is gunna wanna prove a point and he might just make them look just as bad as he did last time they played. I think that the Jets defense is the only chance the Jets have in this game and with Brady peaking now and getting extra motivation, so im sticking with the Pats also. As you all know i am a die-hard Packers fan so there is obviously no way i am changing my last pick, last game the Packers had so many penalties and fumbled on the Falcons one yard line which in itself is a 14 point swing right there, not to mention the horrible special teams which took away a chance for the Packers to win in OT, i look for the Packers to be a lot more focus and A-Rog and company to play perfect and come away with a huge win. So those are my new and improved picks for round 2.
Tonight was a much better night for me in the NBA i went 8-3, i was 7-1 before the 8:30 games started, i was on ESPN.com and i was looking at my option to continue my streak on ESPN.coms streak for the cash and the only option left was the to pick a winner between the Suns and Blazers and so i either could keep my streak intacted at 3 (which isnt that good at all but i got all 3 of the today so it was ok) or try and get one more, and of course i thought it would be an easy add, i thought the Blazers were coming off a days rest and a tough loss, not to mention they are a better team then the Suns...right? Well i guess not cause the Suns once again came back in the 4 quarter to win, i was pretty upset about that but i cant say i was surprised. Which brings me to the Knicks i think i have jinxed them or it sure seems that way everytime i pick them (except once i believe) they lose i mean the Kings...really guys..really...hurry up and get Melo and lets get this thing going already!! I am glad however that the Lakers continue there winning ways, i was right Kobe and Lamar both had good games...Kobe lead the team in scoring with 27 points also had 4 dimes and 4 boards, Lamar on the other hand had a double double with 14 points 11 boards 1 block 4 steal and 2 dimes. One more thing i have to point out about calling a players performance...I said Scola would have a good night and i have 2 blocks for my fantasy team....and thats right he had a good game and 2 blocks just like your boy said! haha i guess tonight was just my night, making up for yesterday where i was horrible! Also i called how much the Jazz would beat the Cav's by...i said 20 or more and they ended up winning by 22. Thats is that for the NBA tonight i will get back on tomorrow and post my picks for tomorrows games.
Now on to baseball...I was checking out the Rangers blog today like i said looking at how they were looking at Manny again, and like i said i think that is a great idea, another good fit would be Jones, also a power right handed hitter, i think Jones would be a great fit in Texas he is a better defensive option thats for sure, but then again Manny was hurt last year and i still believe he can hit and hit good, so i sitll would much rather them sign Man-Ram but either way its legit. I was reading about a pitcher the Rangers have had for a few years but has been hurt for the past 2 his name is Eric Hurely and when he got healthy the end of last year he was pitching in a summer league in Arizona with the Rangers pitching coach out there working with him and seeing what he still had left if he would come back and be able to perform right away, and thats when i was getting myself ready to read something like...they let him start 3 games which he had era of over 8 and went 0-3 before they put him in the bullpen but thats not what i read not even close to what i read...turns out the kid had his stuff working for him, first off he is only 25 years old, he finished the FALL leagues (sorry up there i said summer league) 3-0 with a 1.82 era on 24 2/3 innings pitched with 14 strike outs vs. 9 walks, that seems pretty good to me, granted this is a fall league and its only 3 games and his strike out to walk ratio isnt super super great, but its something we have to look forward to, i hope he throws this great in spring training and gets himself a spot in the Rangers rotation. Also if they are looking for a pitcher which they should be they got bats we all know that, now they just need the pitching i swear its always like this with the Ranger...like back when i was in middle school and first started really liking them they had Pudge A-Rod and Palmaro and thats right no pitching, i swear after Lee brought them to the World Series you think theyd get it, not to mention there owner is one of the best pitchers the MLB has ever seen!! i swear get Pavano and Ramirez and we make another deep deep run and its Rangers vs. Pillies in the World series. I am already picking Philly to win the NLCS and maybe even win 100+ games next year...when i hear LBJ would take his talents to south beach i wasnt happy the way he did it but i was super excited for basketball season to start just to watch 2 of the leagues best players and 2 of the best players ever be on the same team and Bosh was just a bonus. But i am a million times more excited to see what this Phillies team is capable of they lost a little power but i dont think that matters with the 4 aces they can put on the mound, most teams have maybe 1 or 2 at the most but 80% of their rotation is pretty much unstopable! Sorry i just love real baseball (thatd be defensive, pitchers duel, small ball type) watching it being played the right way, not the lets take so much roids we are more roided up then everyone in the WWE combine so we can hit as many homeruns as possible, so we can check swing on a pitch break our bat and STILL hit a home run!! (that actually happened, can you guess who did it...think....come on....you almost got it....THATS IT! Barry King of Roids Bonds!) they really did ruin the game for me for a few years there, only the last year and the year before have i really started to pay attention to baseball again, which is really said cause i played basebll for 15 years of my life and i LOVE it! WELL now with all that being said i hope i didnt jinx the Rangers chances of getting anyone, another thing i wonder about is why the Rangers dont go after Matt Perk the TCU pitcher they signed last year before going bankrupt and having to tell him they couldnt pay him sending him to college where he tore it up, all the way to the National Championship. He has to wanna stay in Texas i just hope he has no hard feelings for them for going bankrupt after all it wasnt there choice. Well thats all i got for tonight, tomorrow i will be on while watching the playoffs and will give my NBA picks for the day and have more on baseball. O snap i almost forgot, i just found out i have the NBA and NHL channel so i will for sure be able to start my hockey posts.
