Tonight was a must win for the Lakers and while they lost in the last second because they couldn't rebound to save there life, I think the Spurs got like at least 3 or 4 offensive rebounds in the final 20 seconds, all the Lakers needed to do was get one rebound to win and they could not do that. But on the bright side at least this game was close, and they got a good outing out of Ron Artest which is a big plus he only averages 8 points a night but tonight he had 13 points 5 boards and 2 steals, a much more respectable line then before, he shot over 50% also. They got a good showing from Bynum with 10 points 10 boards 6 dimes and 3 blocks, Kobe had a night just like I thought 16 points 10 dimes 9 boards a little better on the rebound assist side then I thought but I was close enough. The two things I think need to happen for them to be successful that didn't happen tonight are..1. Fisher needs to score more then 2 points, sure he doesn't get many shots which might make it hard for him to get in a grove but he is a catch and shot guy he has always been that guy and usually he makes the most of his shots, he needs to do more of the same. 2. Pau Gasol needs to have at least 12 rebounds a game, his offense is there but I think if they are gunna get where they want to be he needs to do exactly what Kobe says and become the black swan he has to get more agressive on the glass not just on the offensive end, I think it is ok for Odom to have something like 6-8 rebounds more is obviously good but he is more of an outside shooter, Pau is in the paint, with all the shooters the Lakers have Pau should be getting at least 4 offensive boards a game if not more. He has it in him we saw it at the start of the season and the game before the Spurs game.
I knew the Magic couldn't play defense but I didn't think they would let LeBron drop 51 on them and almost a triple double at that adding 11 boards 8 dimes 1 block and 1 steal. It was all LeBron tonight in a night where only 3 other scored in double figures for the Heat and none of them above 15, still it was obvious James had the hot hand so they were letting him shoot, Wade still almost shot 50% he was 5-12 from the field. I am sure Wade and Bosh could have scored more but tonight James was obviously on that LeBron level and they were letting him do his thing. Also I want to mention that as soon as I heard Eddie house had signed with the Heat I knew he would be a great thing for them. He is a great catch and shoot knock down shooter from anywhere on the court, he loves the ball at the end of the game and he never needs to get in a grove he is always ready. He is doing for the Heat what Fisher NEEDS to be doing for the Lakers. With the stars the Heat have House will get plenty of open looks at the end of games or whenever he is in, and all he needs to do is keep cashing in on those chances. I still think for the Heat to contend they will need a tough big man thats more defensively driven rather than offensively.
